Childhood should be a time of excitement, learning, and imagination. But thousands of children in Scotland live with fear and uncertainty about where they will live next.
They’re being moved into houses, flats, and even hotel rooms that can be overcrowded, unsafe, and miles away from their schools and communities.
The Scottish Government has promised to end the use of unsafe and harmful temporary homeless accommodation for children. Yet, every single day, 40 children in Scotland become homeless*. It’s an outrage. That’s why we’re asking you to fight back against child homelessness.
YouGov research commissioned by Shelter Scotland found that 58% of people in Scotland think the Scottish Government should be doing more to tackle child homelessness. Ministers must back up their words with action.
The Scottish Government must invest in family-sized social homes and give councils the support they need to move families out of temporary homeless accommodation.
Together, we can send a clear, message to ministers: No childhood lost to homelessness.
